In the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, the action of eating a pomegranate binds Persephone to the underworld. In Once Bitten, broken fragments of the fruit’s flesh have been cast in concrete; the exchange of one material for another arrests the processes of decay and memorialises desire.

Each edition is unique, therefore size and finish might vary slightly from the picture.
